WORD FROM THE NATIONAL DIRECTOR

It is my joy and my honor to share with you my futuristic vision of Habitat for Humanity International Cote D’ivoire. Indeed, in a country like Cote D’ivoire aspiring to be an emerging nation by the year 2020, Habitat is planning to take an active part in the development of the country by being more poverty reduction driven and social inequality oriented so as to generally improve the working conditions and the living standards of vulnerable individuals.

For over a decade of existence, Habitat for Humanity Cote D’ivoire is positioned as a major development actor. Our organization develops programs to build social housing at lower cost to promote access to housing for all. We work to improve the water supply and cleanliness of human settlement. We promote sustainable hygiene practices through initiatives often referred to as water, sanitation and hygiene or WASH Initiatives (by rehabilitating village pumps). In addition, we make a point of building capacity through training in financial literacy, construction studies and hygiene best practices.

The organization I am spearheading consists of dynamic and competent young people who are able to meet the enormous daily challenges. We want to fully commit ourselves and show our willingness to contribute to the building of an emerging nation by providing our people with high quality services and thereby reduce their vulnerabilities. We, definitely, want to fully support the government policy of access to housing at a low cost for low-income households. We also want to increase the supply and the access to clean water in non-provisioned area, boost the concept of empowerment of women through micro-projects and finally we want to facilitate access to training for young people.

Dear partners, we will fail to achieve the above-mentioned results without the involvement of all. I would therefore call on donors, national and international funders to work in synergy with Habitat for Humanity on poverty project oriented so as to create a socio-economic climate more just and equal in Cote D’ivoire.
